From The Bobs in Office Space to Ryan Bingham from Up In The Air, anyone who is a corporate monkey has a wry smile when they see business consultants portrayed on screen. They know, deep down, that consultants are simply an extended sneer with a huge invoice attached. They get to exist in the rarefied air of never having to deal with the fallout of their decisions. The Consultant looks like it puts an intriguing and fun spin on this.
According to the blurb, the eight episodes:
“…revolve around Regus Patoff (Waltz), a consultant who is hired to improve the business at the gaming company CompWare. Under his guidance, the employees begin to experience new and twisted demands.”
The show is based on Bentley Little’s novel The Consultant. The series is a twisted, comedic-thriller series that explores the sinister relationship between boss and employee. Tony Basgallop will showrun and executive produce, with Christoph Waltz, Matt Shakman, Steve Stark, Andrew Mittman, and Kai Dolbashian also producing.
The project is one of Amazon’s first through its newly acquired MGM arm via MGM Television. It co-stars Brittany O’Grady and Nat Wolff. Filming began in December 2021 and it entered post-production last year.
The Consultant premieres February 24th on Prime Video.
