Many Star Wars games have focused on the exciting Clone Wars, but no game has recreated the intergalactic conflict’s coolest battle. The epic sci-fi saga has inspired many beloved games, ranging from shooters like Star Wars: Battlefront to third-person action games like Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. Many of these Star Wars games immerse players in iconic moments and locations from the series, but one epic battle has not yet been featured in any game.
While some of the best Star Wars gaming moments feature original characters and locations, many fans are more interested in reliving iconic cinematic moments. The Star Wars: Battlefront series is particularly focused on delivering this fantasy, with most entries casting players as Clones or Stormtroopers engaging in memorable battles. Fans can put themselves in the boots of a Rebel soldier fending off the Empire on Hoth, or fight droids across the sandy dunes of Geonosis as a newly-minted Republic Clone Trooper. However, despite the franchise’s long list of planets to visit and skirmishes to recreate there is one particularly exciting battle that has never appeared in a Star Wars game.
The Battle Of Coruscant Was An Important Clone Wars Event
Star Wars Episode 3: Revenge of the Sith famously begins with a space battle above Coruscant, but a brutal land battle was also fought at the same time. As depicted in the 2003 Star Wars: Clone Wars show, this battle saw General Grievous lead thousands of battle droids down onto the streets of the Republic capital on a mission to capture Chancellor Palpatine. Countless Clone Troopers, and iconic Jedi like Yoda and Mace Windu, fought in and around Coruscant’s iconic skyscrapers in an attempt to defend the Chancellor. Palpatine was ultimately captured, only to be saved by Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi in the opening minutes of Revenge of the Sith.
The Battle of Coruscant Would Make A Great Star Wars Game
The Battle of Coruscant was a crucial Clone Wars event, but no Star Wars game has let players live out the intense conflict. Fighting among the streets and across the skyscrapers of the sci-fi metropolis would make for intense gameplay, offering a very different atmosphere compared to the jungles of Kashyyyk or the dunes of Tatooine. The original Star Wars: Battlefront games let players relive the space battle above Coruscant and Anakin’s rampage through the Jedi Temple, but Greivous’ invasion of the city would make a truly unique Battlefront level. The prominent involvement of the Jedi could also let the Battle of Coruscant instead serve as a flashback mission in future Star Wars Jedi titles.
Star Wars video games have taken players from the seas of Kamino to the cloud city of Bespin, but the futuristic streets and skyscrapers of Coruscant have not been utilized. The iconic space battle above Coruscant has been featured heavily, but letting players fight back against Grievous’ ground assault of the city could be a breathtaking experience. Fighting among massive skyscrapers would make the battle feel truly epic, as would the presence of famous Jedi like Yoda and Mace Windu. Star Wars: Battlefront’s Galactic Conquest never let players fight to protect Chancellor Palpatine from General Grievous’ forces, but perhaps a future Star Wars title will highlight this important Clone Wars event.
