Remember when Sir Patrick Stewart entertained us all during the height of the Covid pandemic by reading Shakespeare sonnets on Instagram? The 82-year-old social media whiz—and star of Star Trek: The Next Generation and Star Trek: Picard—has just joined TikTok, and he’s kicking things off in grand literary style.
Starting the holiday season with Dickens
Sir Patrick introduced himself with “Hi. Well I am joining TikTok, and I thought i should celebrate it with the 12 days of Christmas.”
Sitting in front of a crackling fire, he then began to read Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol, starting with the book’s dramatic first sentence, “Marley was dead: to begin with.”
The first video went up today and no doubt there will be something new to look forward to every day until the 12 days are done.
@sirpatstew My first TikTok!? Please enjoy day one of 12 days of mini readings from A Christmas Carol, a novel that’s meant a great deal to me in my life. Cheers! #AChristmasCarol #12DaysOfChristmas #PStewTok ♬ Bonfire sound (sound of crackling firewood)(999487) – MN Field Record
For those of you not on TikTok, you can watch the videos via Instagram. If you are, you can follow Sir Patrick’s account here.
Star Trek: Picard returns in February
