A sixth installment in the popular Scream movie franchise is coming to theaters next year and the first teaser trailer for the new film has just dropped! Leaving Woodsboro behind, the new sequel will see 4 of the original Ghostface killings attempt to leave their cursed town behind for a fresh start – only to be met with all new horrors.

It was revealed earlier this year year that franchise icon Neve Campbell (Sidney Preacott) would not be returning to play her iconic role due to salary disputes. Scream 6 director Tyler Gillett admitted while speaking to EW that while her departure did impact the story greatly, they found opportunity to dig deeper into other characters as a result:
We love Neve, and we’re huge fans of Sidney Prescott, but it felt like there’s an opportunity to really dig into this new crop of characters, and I think people will be really surprised and pleased with how successfully this movie does that. This movie’s been in our lives now for quite a while, but I think that we are still consistently surprised by how rich and how interesting and deep the relationship is between the four of them in this movie.
