90 Day Fiancé cast member Usman “Sojaboy” Umar has long maintained that he is a famous rapper in his home country, and has once again spoken out to set the record straight. Fans were first introduced to Usman on 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days season 4, where he claimed he was a prominent rapper in Nigeria. His well-known name in the industry was evident, as fans watched his fame become a major issue in his followed relationships on the show.
90 Day Fiancé star Usman’s music career and his proclamation of international fame is still widely discussed, from both angles that is. Usman recently reposted a screenshot of a Facebook post regarding his popularity in Africa. The comment, from a fan who allegedly resides in Africa, read, “okay so I’m just going to tell you that I live in Africa and Usman is not a celebrity.” Another Instagram account shared the screenshot and tagged Usman in it to make certain he saw it. To no surprise, he had something to say about it. Usman shared the comment on his Instagram story with the caption, “I’m not but you know me thank you, celebrity lol.” He was clearly amused by the claim, and this wasn’t the first time 90 Day Fiancé fans saw Usman defend himself on the matter.
Usman’s Music Career Has Gotten In The Way Of His 90 Day Fiancé Relationships
Fans couldn’t get enough of Usman’s first relationship on Before The 90 Days. Usman and his fiancé at the time, “Baby Girl” Lisa Hamme, quickly gained traction for Lisa’s regular utterance of profanities. Lisa, a small-town Pennsylvanian, and Usman, a Nigerian rapper, first began chatting via Facebook, after being introduced by a mutual friend. They kept their virtual relationship alive for two years before meeting. The swift split was of no surprise as the two regularly struggled with trust issues (primarily due to his abundance of female fans), a staggering 22-year age gap, and cultural differences.
Usman and Lisa publicly separated the same year of the season’s release, but 90 Day Fiancé fans were at ease with their decision. What seemed to bother Usman the most was that it was affecting his music career. Lisa initially appeared to be wooed by his celebrity status in Nigeria, but the fangirling and constant attention he received was one of their primary struggles. Usman is far too dedicated to his music career to allow for his relationship to interfere. He, like most people, is looking for a partner who encourages and supports his passion.
Although his journey on 90 Day Fiancé did not end in happily ever after with Lisa, Usman did gain something. Whether he’s a sold-out show in Nigeria, or the Facebook user is accurate in their claim, he undeniably gained international traction from the show. What more could an aspiring musical artist ask for? Usman’s devotion to his music career is one thing that isn’t up for debate. Usman entertains the claims that he is not as famous as he makes himself out to be, but if the man is one thing, it’s determined. If he is not yet famous in Nigeria, many fans believe he will get there.
